E-scooters from Sokudo Electric: Two RTO and One Non-RTO Compliant

When the new electric scooters are released, the company hopes to have 15–25% of the market for them.

The Select 2.2, Rapid 2.2, and Plus (Lithium) are the three new electric scooter models that Sokudo Electric, an Indian startup manufacturing electric two-wheelers, has introduced to the Indian market. The new RTO models have smart fireproof lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) batteries and a 15-amp converter for effective charging. They also meet FAME-II standards. The third electric scooter is called Plus (Powered By Lithium), and it is a Non-RTO model.

The company hopes that after launch, its new electric scooters will take 15–25% of the market. With this, it hopes to highlight India’s manufacturing capabilities and help the country reach its target of 80% sales penetration for electric two-wheelers.

Priced at Rs. 85,889, the Select 2.2 (RTO) has a range of up to 100 km, the Rapid 2.2 (RTO) has a range of up to 100 km, and the Plus (Lithium) (Non-RTO) costs Rs. 59,889.

The new models do away with the risk associated with NMC batteries by using smart, fireproof lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) batteries that are powered by a 15 amp converter for charging.

The scooters with ABS plastic bodies ranging from 3.5mm to 5.25mm have CANBUS connectors that allow for real-time monitoring for simpler maintenance. The vehicle and battery warranties are for five years and three years, respectively.

In a press release, Sokudo Electric India’s founder and chief executive officer, Prashant Vashishtha, shared his thoughts on the new launch. He said, “More than 5 lakh people who buy non-RTO lead-acid scooters every month are stuck with inefficiencies like limited range and short warranties. We hope to offer Indian riders longer-lasting, higher-performing, and more dependable options at significantly lower costs with our new two-wheeler models, which also have longer warranties and greater ranges.”
